Sea pollution is more dangerous
than you think

The world population is living, working, vacationing, increasingly conglomerating along the coasts,
and standing on the front row of the greatest, most unprecedented, plastic waste tide ever faced.
Washed out on our coasts in obvious and clearly visible form, the plastic pollution spectacle
blatantly unveiling on our beaches is only the prelude of the greater story that unfolded further
away in the world’s oceans, yet mostly originating from where we stand: the land.

__

Over 220 million tons of plastic are produced each year

__

Plastic pollution causes the deaths of more than 100,000 marine animals every year
__

60-90% of marine litter is plastic-based
__

More than 50% of sea turtles have consumed plastic
__

There is more microplastic in the ocean than there are stars in the Milky Way
__

The amount of plastic in the world's oceans could increase by a factor of 10 in the next decade
__

Cigarette butts, plastic bags, fishing gear, and food and beverage containers
are the most common forms of plastic pollution found in the oceans

__

If plastic production ins't curbed, plastic pollution will outweigh fish pound by 2050
